Contributing to a sustainable environment

Certified veriflora sustainably grown

Maintaining ecological balance is crucial for all of the members of the Acadian Peat Moss team. That is why we do everything we can to produce our sphagnum peat moss in a manner that respects the environment.

One of the ways we are working to accomplish this is to obtain Veriflora certification. This certification provides our customers and our partners with a guarantee that our products are certified socially responsible.

This approach is a means of protecting our natural assets and conserving them for the future. Please click here to obtain a copy of our certificate.

What is Veriflora certification?

Veriflora is an agricultural sustainability certification and eco-labeling program recognized as the gold-standard in the floriculture and horticulture industries. The program is administered by SCS Global Services (SCS), a global third-party certifier of environmental, sustainability and agricultural product quality claims

VeriFlora certification therefore attests that Acadian Peat Moss offers a product that meets the following criteria:

  • Responsible management of peatlands
  • Ecosystem protection
  • Resource conservation and energy efficiency
  • Integrated waste management
  • Fair labour practices
  • Community benefits
  • Product quality

What is C-TPAT certification?

Since 2005 Acadian Peat Moss has been certified by C-TPAT: Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism

When they join the anti-terror partnership, companies sign an agreement to work with Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This partnership is intended to protect the supply chain and identify security gaps. It also involves specific security measures and current best practices.

Additionally, partners provide CBP with a security profile outlining the specific security measures the company has in place.

Applicants must address a broad range of security topics. They are required to present security profiles that list action plans to align security throughout their supply chain.

C-TPAT members are not considered to be high-risk and are therefore less likely to be examined. This designation is based on a company’s past compliance history, security profile, and the validation of a sample international supply chain
